Our Care Givers

Our Team

Heather Owner/Manager: Coming from a large family Heather always knew she wanted to work with children, she just didn't envision how. Then nearing the end of high school she was flipping through a college pamphlet, as soon as she read the description for "Early childhood educator" she had her answer. Heather has been working in the field of Early Childhood since graduating with her E.C.E. from Cariboo College in Kamloops in 1982. Heather's first job was running a preschool in Salmon Arm, following that, she worked in childcare in Vancouver and Kelowna. Then in April of 1995 Heather jumped on an opportunity to open her own center, which she still owns today, and there was no doubt in her mind about the name; "For The Kids Daycare" was born. Shortly after opening "For The Kids Daycare" she went back to Okanagan College where she received her Infant and Toddler Certificate, she has also taken hours of upgrade, and management courses. Working with children continues to be more rewarding than she could ever have imagined. She now has grown, young adults approach her asking if she remembers them from when they attended her center and it brings back such great memories!

The Infant and Toddler Team

Elise: Joined For the Kids Daycare in April 2010 and is currently the Assistant Manager at the facility & a supervisor of one of our infant/Toddler programs. We rescued Elise from Kamloops where she took her E.C.E. through Thompson Okanagan University, she continued to take her schooling through correspondence while working . Elise graduated with Honours in 2009 obtaining her Infant & Toddler diploma. Elise was involved in the management of her previous centre and brings those skills to For The Kids. We are very pleased to have Elise on our team with her great sense of humor, love of children, relaxed and organized style of care giving.

Telisa; Obtained her Assistant Status from northern lights college and is planning to eventually continue on with her ECE through correspondence. Telisa's quick smile, and infectious laugh brings a smile to anyone's face. She originally was a pharmacist assistant before discovering her love for childcare and that she could make a career out of Early Childhood Education. Telisa has an outgoing personality, and shines in what she does at the centre. We are very happy to have her as a team member.

Jodie: Jodie graduated her E.C.E. through the Okanagan College in 2009 and has been with For The Kids Daycare since Sept 2009. She started out as part of our team in the Three to Five's Preschool Program before deciding to move over and join our Infant and Toddler team. Since then Jodie has gone on to completed her infant/toddler training through Okanagan College, graduating in June of 2011. Jodie has tremendous common sense and likes to stay organized. Her dedication to our field shines through in everything she does and she is always looking to learn everyday through her fellow team members. Since June 2011 Jodie has taken on the supervisory role in our other baby program working with Shayla.

Shayla: Joined our team in June of 2011 she started out as part of our team in the Three to Five's Preschool Program then we transferred her over to our Infant and Toddler Centre. Shayla, worked for us in the summer of 2010 during her first year of ECE training, and graduated with her full E.C.E. from Okanagan College in June 2011. We knew early on that she would be a great asset to any facility she joined, it is our good fortune that she chose us! Shayla has a quiet, patient, easy going disposition, combining that with her quick smile and gentle manner makes a great caregiver.

Linda: started her career in the Fraser Valley taking her E.C.E through the Fraser Valley College in 1991 and than continued her schooling taking her Infant and Toddler Program through Northern Lights College. She first came to us as a sub and than began working full time in the summer of 2010. Linda's maturity and experience in our field has been a tremendous addition to our group. Linda currently works both of our Program's and is enjoyed by all the groups.
